Listen to your calling

"Have the courage to chase your purpose."

-Michelle A Homme

Are you listening to your life?

Your life has purpose, lets find it...

1. Notice dreams and signs.

Pay attention to the things that happen in your life, the people you meet, the things you notice, the places you are drawn to, and the dreams you have when you're asleep. Don't worry as much about what you saw in your dream, but how it made you feel. Keep a pad by the bed to write down your reflections, and question what they could be telling you about how you subconsciously feel about your waking life.

2. Prioritize creative expression.

Creativity begets discovery. Can you set aside a few minutes every day to write, dance or draw? Life is meant to be lived!  It is important to put yourself first.

3. Think about what you used to love.

What did you love to do or want to be when you were young? How did you play as a child? What were you curious about? What did you think about? The answers to these questions will hold a clue to how you can use your experiences to start something that matters to you.

4. Notice what feels good.

When we are living in a state of flow and ease, we are connected, joyful, expressive, loving and purposeful. Notice times in your daily life that you feel like this. What are you doing? Who are you with? Notice what doesn't feel good.  Notice how past traumas may have influenced your life, and think about how you can impact people around you using your story.  What feels good to you?

5. Turn down the distractions.

Ask yourself what distractions you currently love the most: Maybe it's TV, social media, or email. What are your coping mechanisms?  Alcohol, drugs, sex, overeating, overworking? Learn to allow yourself to feel in order to heal and not allow distractions to stand in your way. Distractions stop us from facing things we don’t want to, or having to answer difficult questions. But consciously opting to turn down the volume on our distractions, one notch at a time, will allow more stillness and possibility to enter our lives.

6. Pay attention to what keeps coming back.

Your truth never goes away, even if you ignore it at first. Recurring thoughts give us clues as to what will really satisfy us, so pay attention to yours.

7. Try new things regularly.

The process of finding joy isn't passive, and a more fulfilling life won't appear in a puff of smoke. Oftentimes, knowing what's right for you will require trying out a lot of things that are wrong. Failing isn't failure at all, it is us becoming one step closer to our purpose. Once you start to listen to your inner voice and reflect on what made you happy during childhood, question how you can start to bring those things to life in your current reality.

8. Find a way to connect with something outside yourself daily.

Get outside!  Walk, exercise, read, meditate. These actions will help us put our lives in perspective and remind us of what we live for.

9. Shake up your routine.

Change your routine often. Changing your environment can work wonders to shift your perspective. It can be as simple as taking a different route home from work or bringing your morning coffee outside.

10. Be patient.

Discovering and honing your path in life doesn't happen overnight; it's a continual journey. We will help you see a clear path to your journey and give you tools to attain your goals.  Be compassionate with yourself along the way. Treat yourself, your practices, and the world with patience.

What is Oprah's purpose in life?

Oprah believes we all have a purpose of life—and we are born with it. But don't expect the clarity to come all at once, to know your purpose right away. To fulfill the highest most truthful expression of yourself as a human being. Ask yourself, what makes you alive.

Everyone hopes they’ll avoid the worst life has to offer—accidents, illness, loss or violence. Unfortunately, few of us will get through life unscathed. According to recent PTSD research, 75 percent of people will experience a traumatic event in their lifetime. These traumatic events will inevitably cause great suffering. But it’s not all bad news. Trauma can also be a powerful force for positive change.
